Our thoughts on Skoda used cars

With demand for the Yeti model looking very strong, the overlooked model in Skoda's line up might just be the Roomster. This model made its debut in the summer of 2006 riding on Fabia supermini underpinnings which are also common across the Volkswagen Group’s other supermini products of around the same time. The engine range was chosen very much to provide economy rather than performance and includes 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol units with 1.4 and 1.9-litre diesels. Trim levels were imaginatively titled Roomster 1, Roomster 2 and Roomster 3. The rugged-looking Roomster Scout was introduced in early 2007 and these look very strong value.

A performance Skoda is still a concept that a few struggle with, but seat them behind the wheel of the Octavia vRS and the penny would soon drop. These 150mph bruisers offer serious performance in a sober suit and it's no wonder so many police forces the length and breadth of the country choose them. Practical and discreet, the Octavia vRS is offered in hatch and estate guises. Both are rather wonderful.
