Introduced in 2006, the Santa Fe got bigger and better built, and the uprated 155bhp diesel engine that arrived in late 2006 is the one to look to. Nearly new buyers will enjoy the 2010 Santa Fe which is even glitzier.

Our thoughts on Hyundai used cars
The scrappage scheme prompted many to chop their old cars in against something new and no vehicle was a bigger beneficiary than the Hyundai i10. With a glut of stock on the market as buyers now look to trade them in against something newer, this is a great time to go shopping for this sweet city scoot. Buyer psychology dictates that as they didn't pay much for it in the first place, they don't expect much as a used buy. Haggle hard and take no prisoners!
My final choice is unashamedly left-field. Most will know Hyundai for its economical city cars and bargain family hatches. How about a big, luxury saloon? The XG30 features acres of leather, a ride so soft it feels like the suspension is made of Play-Doh and lashings of chrome on the exterior. It's not particularly subtle but it is hugely appealing in a kitschy manner. It's also extremely cheap. If you like the idea of ironically wafting around in a smooth-riding barge, the XG30 is well worth a punt. Strangely cool.
