Our thoughts on Honda used cars

My initial pick is the Honda Stream. More specifically, the 2.0-litre VTEC model. Here's a seven-seat people carrier that, admittedly, isn't much to look at but it drives better than any MPV built before or since. The manual gearchange is a delight to use, the engine thrives on revs and it handles with real competence. If you want a driver's car but need to dress it up as a responsible family purchase look no further. The best part is that the used market at large has failed to cotton onto this fact and valuations are very modest.

If you're looking to reduce fuel bills you either go for a diesel or a hybrid like the Honda Insight or the Toyota Prius, right? Sort of. How about the Honda Civic hybrid, a car that's less well known, offers superior practicality, tiny ongoing fuel bills and which looks very strong value for money as a used buy? Available since 2006, with prices starting at around £7,500, the Civic hybrid is an informed used buy. My last selection is the Honda Accord Tourer, built between 2003 and 2008. Another one of those cars that makes more sense used than it ever did new, the Accord Tourer is loaded with equipment, drives extremely well, has a great reliability record and no small amount of space on board either.
