Launched in 2001 as a rival to the BMW 3 Series, the Jaguar X Type quickly ran into problems, such as perceived build-quality issues, old-fashioned looks and the lack of a diesel engine. Over the years, though, these issues have been ironed out, resulting in a car that - despite its still rather retro look - is extremely refined and blends outstanding comfort with very decent handling.
