Practicality. Comfort. Space. Economy. The Citroen Berlingo scores excellently in all of them. OK, so you have to compromise a bit on some things, such as style, but hey - you can't have everything. At least, not at this kind of price. But, looks aside (it's more like a van than a car, really), the Berlingo has loads of major plus-points. Take the engines, for example. They may not offer drag-racer performance levels but they all (petrol and diesel) offer highly respectable pace - in fact, the top-of-the-range diesel will get you from a standing start to 62mph in just 11.4 seconds, and max-out at a surprisingly quick 109mph. True, they aren't the quietest power units around, but the noise isn't so intrusive that it's a turn-off for most people. But it's in terms of practicality that the Berlingo stands pretty much alone. Easily seating five, it's got simply ooooodles of luggage space - 675 litres to start with and, if you fold the seats, you end up with a whopping 3,000 litres! So there's not much you might want to carry that's beyond the Berlingo! One possible downside is that Citroen haven't used the very highest quality of materials in constructing the vehicle, but the build quality is still perfectly acceptable.
