It is an extremely hard task generating decent revenue by charging people to advertise cars on their website. It is made even harder when there are so many other "bigger" websites all offering the same service! Usually the smaller sites simply continue to operate without making a great deal of revenue.

DesperateSeller.co.uk was created to change all of this!

So, who are we?
DesperateSeller.co.uk is a new and innovative car advertising website and comes under the Tradeyourcar corporate umbrella. DesperateSeller.co.uk was formed in July 2001 as the flagship site for Tradeyourcar's new and innovative service. The site works on the solid principle "together we rise and divided we fall".

Our aims and objectives
The main objective of DesperateSeller.co.uk is to give car sellers the "best" advertising exposure on the net. We aim to do this through bringing together the resources of a great number of websites.

By looking at the OACMS  diagram below you can see how the current online car classifieds market is divided. Unsurprisingly, a large proportion of the market is dominated by Autotrader.co.uk (54.2%). The remaining 45.8% can be divided into 2 unequal halves where one half (28.2.%) is shared by 9 well established organisations and the other half (17.6%) is shared by hundreds of smaller sites.

We are looking to utilise our advanced technology to combine the resources of both the smaller websites along with some of the more established organisations. We (all partners)  will then be able to provide one of the best car advertising services for internet users. The result is a large portfolio of websites, working individually but in sync. Each site can then offer their users the opportunity of advertising their car on over 100 websites and increasing their chance of a sale.

Our objective is to give each of our portfolio members the ability to:

Have access to a large database of cars across the UK
Increase their existing database of cars across the UK
Offer a superior advertising service to their visitors
Create new or increase existing revenue streams

How it works
Each of our partners' websites is run independently by their owner or webmaster. Your visitors are able to search our database of vehicles by either importing our vehicle data (daily CSV feed) into your database or by allowing us to host a carsearch facility (iFrame) on your website. Either way, your visitors are able to search the DesperateSeller.co.uk database without them leaving your website.

If you allow us to host a carsearch facility on your website this does not mean that you can't still operate your own existing carsearch facility.  Our carsearch facility can simply be used to compliment your existing carsearch facility. If your visitors are unable to find the car they are looking for on your website then they have the option to search the DesperateSeller.co.uk database, without them leaving your website.

It is important to note that DesperateSeller.co.uk is NOT interested in directing any traffic away from partner websites. DesperateSeller.co.uk simply provides the websites with vehicle data. You win by giving your visitors a wider choice of cars to search from and we win by giving our clients a better level of advertising exposure.

How to become a member
Joining our portfolio is easy. However, you must own or run one of the following types of website:

A Motoring website
A Car website
A Classifieds website
A Website with a classifieds section
A Website with a motoring section

It is important that you have the ability to display ALL our vehicles on your own website/database. It is not possible to filter out certain cars. There are two methods in which we can supply your with our vehicle data. Option 1, the CSV method, is a chargeable service. The second option, which involves creating an iFrame in the pages of your website,  is completely free of charge. Please click on the two options below to find out which method would best suit you:

OPTIONAL: If you would like to allow your own visitors to have the ability to advertise their cars on the DesperateSeller.co.uk website and generate revenue from this then you will need to incorporate a special code script somewhere on your page. Once your website has been approved by us you can start displaying our vehicles choosing your selected method. Once you can show us the ability to display our vehicles on your website you will then be added to our portfolio and officially certified as a DesperateSeller.co.uk web partner.
