The price has always been the key factor with Proton cars and while other brands have worked hard to break away from their budget roots, the Malaysian mark has seemed content to battle on at the lower end of the UK market. Proton has been the proud owner of Lotus cars since 1996 and has employed the expertise of the famous British sportscar brand to good effect in honing the driving dynamics of its models.
