The S40 saloon and its V50 estate counterpart are based on the same chassis as the latest Ford Focus and share its polished driving dynamics. They're popular second hand cars and buyers after something even sportier might also like the C30 hatch launched in 2006.
There's also the larger S60 saloon and the S80 which is bigger still but many still associate Volvo with big estate cars first and foremost, so the V70 gets plenty of attention on the pre-owned market. With tonnes of carrying capacity, the V70 is an old school family estate and still a strong alternative to the various MPV options that are around these days.
